5 Year Plan

Mission/Vision
The
Vision of the Theosophical Society in NZ is to inspire and
serve the spiritual evolution of humanity.
Our
Mission is to encourage enquiry with open hearts and minds
into world religions, philosophy, science, and the arts; and to
support the individual's endeavour to understand and apply the
ageless wisdom, respect and honour all life, and achieve spiritual
self-transformation
Key
Goals.
The
key goals we wish to accomplish over the next five years are outlined
below.
1.
Membership.
Provide
a warm and welcoming environment.
Promote
acceptance of differing opinions and the expression of spiritual
principles.
Increase
the involvement of existing members in the organisation,
particularly in the exploration of theosophy.
Ensure
participation in our activities by providing a balance of study,
meditation and service, that have practical and social components.
Promote
and participate in the Theosophical Order of Service (or activities
of this nature) in the various regions within New Zealand.
2.
Organisational Development.
Significant
positive changes to the governance of the NZ Section over the last
few years have already taken place. To continue in this area of
growth we have identified what we would like to see happen over the
next few years:
Encourage
the use of the branch members’ skills through effective
delegation and shared responsibility.
Review
branch constitutions to create a working structure in branches more
suited to today’s inclusive style of decision-making and to bring
them more into line with the NZ Section constitution.
Develop
a nationally coordinated meditation practice linking members and
branches. Its aim is to create a strong sense of unity amongst
members, branches and the section, and create a focus for practical
theosophy, through the positive effect of meditation on the world.
d) Strengthen links
between branches
3.
Education
Organise
high quality and practical educational gatherings within NZ and work
with groups who are trying to achieve the same aims.
Increase
the skills within the organisation to use the media effectively at
national and branch levels.
Develop
and implement mentoring programmes.
Promote
tolerance and spiritual principles in all environments.
Develop
national educational programmes that have a balance of study and
practical aspects to them.
Provide
opportunities for speaker/leadership/facilitator development.
Explore
cooperation with education systems.
Develop
programmes for children and young people.
Develop
a programme on Living and Dying for use by branches and members.
4. Technology
Use
current technology to create a strong presence in NZ by developing
the following:
On-line
study courses
On-line
meditation sessions.
Discussion
groups for members and public
Improved
Internet presence.
