THE WISDOM TRADITION AS FOUND IN WORLD RELIGIONS

Guest Speaker: Professor Richard Brooks, USA

Dr Richard Brooks is a retired professor of philosophy who taught at Oakland University, Michigan. He received his Ph.D. From the University of Minnesota in 1968, specialising in Indian philosophy and Sanskrit. He joined the TS in 1953 and has been a National Lecturer for the American Section for a number of years. Dr Brooks has lectured for the TS in many countries and served as Director of the School of the Wisdom at Adyar in 1998. Comparative religion has been a life-long interest of his.

Morning Study Sessions: As many of the following religions as possible will be discussed from a theosophical point of view: Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Jainism, Hinduism and Zoroastrianism.

Afternoon Sessions: These sessions will be related to the nature and world of the TS, public speaking and some important aspects of Lodge work. Students will be asked to give a short prersentation at the end of the School on a topic discussed during the morning study session.

Cost: $250 per person for full weeks accommodation and meals plus $20 non-refundable registration fee. (Note that this cost is subsidised by the NZ Section for NZ members).

Financial Assistance. There is a travel subsidy available for members upon application. Please contact your Branch President or Study Group coordinator for more information.

COST: Full board, meals plus accommodation in shared four berth cabins $250 per person, plus Registration Fee of $20. (You are required to supply your own bedding, linen and towels). If you would like Tauhara to provide linen towels etc. then there is an extra charge of $75


ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION: If you wish to stay outside the Tauhara Centre and come to the session daily with meals provided (except breakfast) then the cost is $150


TRANSPORT: When you send in your Registration form and fee, please complete the details of your flight and time of arrival and departure if you are travelling by air, so that we can arrange for you to be met and returned to Taupo airport.


REGISTRATION: Non-refundable fee of $20:00
All persons attending the school are required to complete the Registration Form.
