The Harmonious Blacksmith, First Variation by Handel.
This work produces a large flower -like form, somewhat resembling a lily but with many more petals. The main themes build its outline whilst the different petals, which assume different colours, are produced by the changing phases of the theme. As the variations are played, the structure begins to expand; the force of each phase adds to the general form and enriches the colour of one of the numerous petals.
